More People Should Get the HPV Vaccine

The CDC recommendations for the HPV vaccine have just changed. If you’re 45 years of age or younger, then you might want to talk to your doctor about getting vaccinated yourself.

  1. Here are a few episodes we've done on the HPV vaccine in the past:
    1. The HPV Vaccine Is Still Underutilized:

    2. The HPV Vaccine, and Why Your Kids Should Get It:

  2. This vaccine kills and maims because it has NEVER been properly tested.

Gardasil victims: Only one of these youngsters is still alive.

Gardasil killed my 16 year old daughter

Robert F Kennedy Jnr on Gardasil

  3. What do you do when you don’t trust your doctor’s advice sometimes? She was very unconcerned about me traveling to a Zika risk country even though she knew we were TTC. We decided not to risk it but I feel like she should have been more concerned right?

  4. There was a scare campaign against this vaccine that made my family not want me to get it when I was 16, but I chose to get it anyway. So grateful I did. I sadly know someone who will likely pass away this year due to cervical cancer. It's not a thing to take lightly, and preventative medicine is underutilized, I think largely due to societal stigmas.

  5. I never even considered the concern that encouraging adult vaccination would deplete the supply for more susceptible individuals. Thank you for bringing up different sides of a situation!

  7. This video consistently implies that the vaccine confers "immunity" to HPV, but isn't it the case that it only applies to certain (more common) strains? Is the coverage sufficient that doctors talk about it making you "immune" to HPV these days? (edit: to be clear, I'm in favor of the vaccine, just curious about the phrasing in the video.)

  8. 26 y/o male here… I already got mine last year because I thought the age limit was fucking stupid, and this episode of Healthcare Triage has vindicated me. Thank you.

  9. Thanks for the heads-up. Going to shoot an email to my PCP asking if an HPV vaccine is appropriate for me (adult less than 45 yo, not yet sexually active)

  10. I'm so happy I got myself vaccinated last year (when I was 22), makes me feel a lot more secure.
It wasn't covered by my healthcare insurance though, so it did cost me 495 bucks for the three shots, but I suppose that's still better than getting cancer or anogenital warts.

  11. What if you're a 55-year-old male and want to get the vaccine? Is it a bad idea, or just unlikely to be of any help?

  12. I had to vaccinate myself( go the local health clinic, not wield the needle) because my mother was told by our family physician to "wait to see if it's safe". I mean, come on… I had to get vaccinated at 18 and pay more money because of it than I would have had to at age 11. Vaccinate your children people!

  13. I thought getting tested for HPV as a male was impossible. How am I supposed to know whether it's too late to take the vaccine?

  14. My wife is the only person I've had sex with (ditto for her the other way) so if we get divorced I'll 100% be getting the vaccine 😛

  15. I'm glad I got the vaccine years ago. I hate shots, but my friend recommended I just ice my arm right after and it was much easier. Now I'm over my fear of needles & I feel much more protected, especially after finding out my ex was cheating.

  16. I want the HPV. 39 Year old male. Problem is nobody will tell me if it's going to be covered by pubic health (Canada, Sask) or how much it will cost if it's not. Would love the answer, but nobody seems to give a crap in getting it for me.

  17. Nice video, really appreciate all this advice!
It would be nice though, to have the links to the articles from the CDC or to the studies in the description.
